This Vintage iron hook, was attached on a handle measuring over 8 metres (26.25 feet) long; used for removing burning roof material to prevent fires from spreading.
I recall most farmyards would have one hanging horizontally against one of their outside walls of their large machine shed for quick access.
The pole was a two to three inch diameter at the head where the metal hook was bolted with two bolts. The pole was shaved to create a flat surface to securely attach the flat metal head. The handle gradually tapered to 1” diameter end.
This iron fire hook head would be from the 1920 to 1930 era.
